Weʼve raised £2,200 to Help make life a bit easier for our family whilst Chris is waiting for a kidney transplant. He’s on dialysis 4 times a day & unable to work.

Funded on Thursday, 26th October 2023

    Story

Firstly, thankyou so much for taking the time to read this. It is completely out of my comfort zone to ask for any kind of help, let alone financial help, but we have found ourselves in this position so here goes…

My husband of 11 weeks has end stage renal disease and is currently at 8% kindney function. (He was at 18% the week before the wedding so he is deteriorating quickly).

Chris was signed off sick from work 6 weeks ago and is feeling pretty rubbish to say the least. He is self employed and has no sick pay or critical illness cover. We have been told we cannot take a mortgage holiday and I’d be lying if I said we‘re able to pay the bills or to even buy the weekly shop right now. 😞

Chris is starting dialysis in 3 weeks time and he will have to do this 4 times a day until a suitable donor is found.

I realise everybody is feeling the pinch at the moment, but if you can help in any way at all it would mean the world to us.

    Love,

    Anneka and Chris xx

Thankyou so much to everybody for all of your support so far. Chris is going to be off work for a lot longer than we hoped. NHS delays mean it’s going to be at least a year if we find a suitable live donor match. Chris isn’t even on the transplant list for a deceased donor yet due to Drs strikes. The current average waiting time for a deceased kidney is 3 years. Chris is currently dialysing 4 times a day but is still feeling very unwell. He’s exhausted and sleeping every afternoon. We’re trying to remain positive for our 4 beautiful children.

Chris and Anneka got married in April this year. Since the wedding Chris’ health has declined rapidly. He has an autoimmune condition - IGA nephropathy. His native kidneys gave up in 2017 and he had his mum’s kidney transplanted then. The transplanted kidney is now failing too.
