My daughter has been suffering with a skin condition called keloid scarring from the age of thirteen. Keloid scaring is an abnormal growth of scar tissue which exceeds past the original wound. Keloids itch, burn and cause irritation to Bianca on a daily basis.

Bianca has had numerous steroid injections over the past 10 years, injections do not respond effectively on their own to Bianca's skin and have made the keloids larger.
Suffering from severe psychological problems from a young age Bianca has lost her confidence and self belief. Bianca finds it extremely difficult as she tries to cover up her keloids on a daily basis. Bianca's mental health limits her from leaving the house as she is so selfconcious from previous people laughing and making jokes and saying horrible comments about her skin condition.
After ten years we have finally found a doctor who combines pulse dye laser with steroid injections to treat keloids. This treatment has proved effective on a test patch on one keloid on her right cheek.

As the keloids were not treated straight away with laser, due to CCG funding declining the treatment from the NHS as they class keloid scaring removal and laser as COSMETIC. Bianca's keloids are continuing to grow. My daughter needs treatment which includes cutting out the keloid scars first with laser combined to reduce the risk of them growing back. At the moment pulse dye laser in Birmingham seems to be Bianca's last option for happiness. For the pulse dye laser to prove effective the keloids need to be cut completely. I am trying to raise money to get her keloids cut out and for continuous treatment of pulse dye laser as her face and ear are constantly growing. It is extremely upsetting to see my daughter struggle and suffer on a day to day basis with mental health and appearance issues.
Laser on its own would not work on these scars as they need excision first.
