Please help us fundraise to take our children to Centre Parcs!

We have already raised £800 towards this trip and would love help raising the rest.

My name is Lindsey and I am 32 years old and mother of 4 young children. I have a rare and aggressive cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma, and aggressive cancers need aggressive treatment. Since I started my chemotherapy on 13th December I have spent more than half of my time in hospital having my high dose, long stay chemo and for other complications from the treatment. I am extremely fortunate that my cancer is localised to the tumour on my back, and my doctors are expecting the treatment to put me into remission after 7 gruelling months of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery.

Understandably all of this has an effect not just on me, but my family too.

Before this happened, we were a happy family of 6, three boys aged 9, 7 and 4, and a girl aged 18 months. We went from answering questions about how trains work to ‘Is Mummy going to die?’. Nothing as a parent can prepare you to answer this question, especially when at the time we didn’t know the answer. Quiet whispers of ‘please don’t die’, disturbed nights from crying upset children, tears at school, anxiety, gentle kisses to my bald head while I sleep in each morning, overcoming a fear of my PICC line and children missing me until they hurt because I have been admitted to hospital yet again are just some of the things they have had to deal with.

Once this difficult treatment period is finished, I would love to take my children away for a couple of weeks to try to make up for all the time I have missed being away from them in hospital. After some research, Centre Parcs seems like an ideal place for us to relax, recuperate and enjoy time together as a family.

The cost of having a family member with cancer soon adds up, and we cannot do this without asking for your help.
