Story
I am running the Cayman Islands Marathon on 4 December to support two cancer-related charities: one in the Cayman Islands and one in the UK.
No doubt nearly everyone reading this will also have known someone affected by this dreadful disease. Unfortunately, in recent years, I have known too many people who have been impacted by cancer. Some have beaten this disease, others are still fighting it, whereas, sadly some have lost their fights.
Although training and running a marathon is going to be tough and painful, it is a walk-in-the-park compared to the pain of suffering of those people undergoing treatment or to those who have recently lost a loved one. Please help me in supporting these two charities as they help treat and care for cancer sufferers, as well as fund much needed research and education.
Cayman HospiceCare is a not for profit organisation, dedicated to providing dignified, quality comfort care, free of charge, to everyone in the Cayman Islands living with cancer or other end-stage diseases. They are committed to enhancing and improving the lives of all those affected by death, and to assuring long-term emotional, spiritual and general well-being to survivors after loss.
The Royal Marsden is the largest and most comprehensive cancer centre in Europe, treating over 50,000 patients every year. It is a centre of excellence with an international reputation for groundbreaking research and pioneering the very latest in cancer treatments and technologies, as well as specialising in cancer diagnosis and education.
All donations received will be split equally between these two charities.

8 years agoThank you to everyone who donated and who came out to support. Although my time will definitely not be one for the record books, we have raised some money for two fantastic charities who are extremely grateful. Many thanks once again. Ed
