    Story

This is Charlie. He is a sweet, gentle, frightened boy. We rescued him through Chimney Farm International dog rescue. He was in a horrific situation waiting on being destroyed, a street dog, severely malnurished and badly injured. We drove to London to pick him up and he never moved in the footwell of the car for over 6 hours as we drove him home to Scotland. He has taken a long time to settle in - it took about 6 weeks to be able to attach a lead to him collar. He is very frightened of men but is gradually learning to trust again.

In September 2015 we took him on holiday to Skye. We thought walks on the beach and quiet countryside would be good for him. Not long after we arrived we left him cosy in the livingroom while we went out for an hour next door to have some food. We came back to discover that he had completely panicked and had attempted to dig his way out the livingroom. He had destroyed the living room carpet. He had never reacted like this at home despite being left alone sometimes.

As you can imagine it was a complete nightmare. Charlie was distressed and we went home to allow the house to be repaired.

Twenty months down the line out of the blue we have received a bill from the owner's insurance for £1380. Neither our insurance nor his pet insurance will cover this.

We rescue quite a few animals and feel they all deserve a second and third chance after the miserable and cruel existences many of them have. Charlie is allowed to make mistakes and we have continued to love him and build his trust. He really is a beautiful boy. Any contributions at all to help us meet this bill would be hugely appreciated. Its a worry.

We used this photo because its one of him sleeping with his eyes shut. It took him four months to sleep with his eyes fully closed. This picture represents to us how far he has come. Thank you for reading this and considering it.
