Story
Chloe is going on an expedition summer 2018 to Tanzania to work in partnership with the local communities to help build houses, schools and other facilities, which together they will agree a list of sustainable development objectives.
40% of people in Tanzania are living in poverty without good sanitation, water, healthcare and food. Nearly half of its population live on less than $1 a day. The average life expectancy is just 55 years old, we are hoping that by helping the needs of the community and providing clean sanitation, fresh water supplies and access to better healthcare will help the communities live longer and healthier lives.
The money raised by you will go towards the community; 42% goes towards investing in the local economies, communities, wildlife & environmental conservation, 40% goes towards the programme planning, support and expendition delivery costs, 3% other, including infrastructure development and 15% support costs.
You will be helping her undertake the projects, which will help the community of Tanzania:
Education: helping generations of children and babies by building a new school/kindergarten.
Housing: constructing vitally needed community housing from local materials for some of the most impoverished families.
Healthcare and sanitation: improving the health of the whole community through installing and improving local amenities.
Food and water security: installing new water facilities to provide fresh water to local communities.
Environmental protection: digging animal watering holes, deworming livestock and help rangers protect vulnerable wildlife from poachers.
Sustainable livelihoods: making elephant poo paper and flip-flop key-rings which local people can sell to encourage micro-enterprise.
This expedition will enhance Chloe's own personal development, challenging herself to undertake life-enhancing projects, whilst growing in self-confidence and improving her communication and team building skills.
