It seems like everyone knows Darren James. And everyone can recognise Darren's car.

Whether it's parked around Barton, outside the hospital, or ferrying people or furniture across town, Darren's car has clocked up thousands of miles serving others.

But now it's knackered. Banjaxed. Worn out. And it doesn't seem fair that Darren and Daphne have to cover the cost of that.

Darren has used his car to take people to the airport, to hospital, to court. He's used it to help people move house, and to rescue people in desperate need of a lift. He's used it to go out of his way to make someone's day better and brighter.

We've all experienced or watched Darren serve generously using his car, never asking for anything in return.

But now this car rattles and shakes, and is becoming a regular visitor at the local garage. It needs fixed properly, or traded in for a new one.

And we can help with that.

A few of us wanted to give something back - to say a small thank you to Darren for the many ways that he has served, helped and loved us, even though he has been slowly killing his car in the process.

And we reckoned that there are other people like you who know what it's like to be helped by Darren, and who would love that opportunity to as well.

So this is our chance, to join together and raise the £3,000 needed to properly fix or replace Darren and Daphne's car.
