I have been invited to take part in a once in a lifetime travel experience to Nepal through my local Scouting District, of which I've been a member for over 12 years.

43 members of the Merseyside Scout District will be setting off in April 2018 to Nepal, to work alongside the charity CENUK (Child Education Nepal UK) on a number of volunteering projects.

Ongoing projects including working to build new school buildings & toilet blocks , helping to ensure small villages have clean running water and even helping with medical aid where possible.

"The children of Nepal are amongst the poorest in the world. Working in the remote village of Ashrang in the Himalayas, CENUK is committed to supporting the children who live there and ensuring that each one has the opportunity to attend school. Ashrang is some two and a half hours off road from the nearest town of Ghorka, ancestral home of the British Army Ghurkas. It has a population of approximately 2500, of which around 750 are children of school age (6 – 16). Many (15%) of these are orphans whose parents were tragically killed in crossfire during the Nepalese Civil War."

Alongside the charity work i will have a great opportunity to immerse myself into the local culture by living and trekking with a number of local families. Having never visited Asia before it was an offer I simply couldn't turn down.

The total sum of the trip will be £2000, a portion of which I am planning to pay myself, however any donation no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.
