Emma has cerebral palsy and is completely reliant on her wheelchair to get around. We are trying to raise money to purchase a powered wheelchair for Emma.

This wheelchair will give her more opportunites to access areas outdoors. Emma is restricted when exploring places, in every respect.

Having a power assisted wheelchair will not only help improve Emma's quality of life but the rest of the family will benefit from it to. Just being able to access areas and walk up hills without a huge struggle will open up areas and places - where we couldn't have access before.

It's a chair with specialist powered wheels. Emma will be able to take her own body weight up hill, with assistance from the power-pack on the chair - which electrifies the wheels. (Kinda like an electric bike). It's called an E-Move system, the wheels and the power-pack can be added to any chair. Although, I am looking to purchase a chair which is lighter than her current model.

It's great that the wheels and power-pack can be transferred to a larger chair seeing as she is still growing. Emma has 8 plates inserted into her knees (an operation where small metal plates where inserted into her knee caps) these restrict the growth at the front of her knee and allows for normal growth at the back of the bone. This will help Emma's legs, as she grows, her legs will grow straight - ultimately improving her standing.

We are always working to encourage Emma to be as independent as she can be and hope she will reach her full potential. Physically she is strong and heavy now. I need to help her to help herself and in turn protect my own physical health. This wheelchair system will do so much for her - in her plight to become as independent as possible.
