Iʼve raised £190 to Ethan's wheelchair, and adaptations as the NHS asked us to chose between postural needs and independence.

Story
This is a start to help funding towards ramps into the house, new suitable wheelchair, wetroom and through floor lift
The NHS are not willing to supply a wheelchair Suitable for ethan's needs NHS have asked us to choose between comfort and independence (when I say comfort I mean a feature that benefits Ethan from sitting upright when crashing out on medication, postural support to prevent hips. etc getting worse. independence for self propelling wheels to help him get to where he want at nursery or with us at home or shops.
The wetroom is so it's easier for Ethan, mum and dad to help either get Ethan washed or hopefully start using the toliet (wishful thinking but need to think positive)
The through floor lift is so Ethan can go up and down stairs without crawling up the stairs, which is hard going for his wee knees, also from trying to get downstairs himself when as you all know isn't safe for a child to try to crawl down stairs. this lift would be a huge independent aid which he can operate and if he chose he can " go and play upstairs" by himself. a huge leap forward in our lives.
Ethan has been diagnosed with global development delay and........ (waiting on the other part as they are unsure.currently going through 6months+ of genetic testing just now)
we use sign-along to help communicate, which he speech has improved so much since starting this a year ago, Ethan, the three girls, mum, dad and even our 10month puppy have learned so much from signing,
Ethan has a wheelchair due to his extremely high muscle tone in his thighs he isn't very good at holding his own weight, walking is limited to a metre or so with the aid of a walker (which has wheels)
my dad (me)and uncle Shane are cycling (on trainer frames) to Peugeot factory where my ne car is made, veldink wheelchair manufacturer, and lift manufacturer (2450 miles)
Hopefully you all understand what I've typed and we appreciate any help given towards us achieving our goal.

8 years agoUpdate so far we have sourced a loan of a bike and I have bought trainer a small computer to track the miles. Shane(my brother) is hoping to get the same kit to not only do the same distance but cycle against each other. A date to do the cycle is yet to be confirmed between us. As we are hoping to do it along side each other rather than 300+ miles apart
