On 9th April I will be running the Devizes half marathon to raise money for the charity Friends of Crowdys Hill School and more specifically towards a music project running at Crowdys Hill School in July.
The music project will involve a team of musicians from Evolve Music, a small charity based in Bath, coming to Crowdys to conduct a series of creative music workshops over four days. Students in year 7 will work together to create their own piece of music based around their own lives and stories.
Students at Crowdys Hill have a wide variety of needs ranging from MLD, ADHD, down syndrome and those on the autistic spectrum. Music is a fantastic way for every student to be involved on an equal level and it gives the students a way to express themselves, in which many would struggle in normal social situations.
The students will perform their very own piece of music in their final assembly of the school year. The project will involve the use of many different musical instruments as well as music technology, giving every student equal access to the facilities and to be involved creatively on an equal level.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our students who will all benefit in both an educational and therapeutic way. A massive thank you for your support!
