    Story

If you are friends with Zara or if you only met her for a short you know how much of an inspirational person she can be. Whether you've been taught to scuba dive by her, played with stingrays or just been happy to be in her company you know that she has wisdom and kindness beyond her 29 years so I am asking for your help.

On the 3rd of September Zara was involved in a serious car accident on Grand Cayman. She suffered a seizure whilst driving which resulted in her loosing control of the car. The result of the impact left her with a fractured neck, 6 bleeds on the brain, paralysis on the right side of her body and difficulty communicating. She was transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami from Grand Cayman late on Sunday night and was in Trauma unit and ICU for 2 days. She has since been moved to a lower dependency unit, and is starting to adjust to the rehabilitaion process.

The road to her recovery is going to be difficult and painful, but she is a determined young lady and I'm sure that we all want to see her back to her old self on a surfboard and living life to the full, making people smile and bringing joy to everyone she meets.

So I have set up this page to ask for any help you may be able to give Zara in making the best recovery she can and getting back on her feet and onto a surfboard once again.

      Update from the Page owner

On behalf of Zara, her family and myself, I would like to thank all of the friends, family old school friends and even people that we have never met for your generosity which frankly at times has been overwhelming. Zara is determined not to let this beat her and is making us proud every single day. Even though this page is closed please keep checking Grand Cayman Adventure page on FB as people are still fundraising and I will share through there. Again THANK YOU all again for helping and for all of the good wishes. Ian

We've just been to see Zara's doctor and the referral process to see a neurologist could be as long as 18 weeks here. There may be a possibility that the insurance could speed things up a little, but it looks as though we are going to have to go down the private route to start with. So we're asking for 1 last push in the last 11 hours of fundraising to see if we can get the total as high as we can to get Zara into treatment as quick as we can. As you can see that Zara doesn't appear to be too happy to be on a cold beach!!!

Zara is now back in the UK and starting the long process of getting Rehab and physiotherapy here. We are very grateful for all of the support and good wishes and for the generosity not just here but from all the other people that have helped out. Please continue to share the page and lets try to get as much as we can to help Zara get back on her feet.

Over the last few days I've spoken with some of Zara's friends and I can't get over the amount of love there is for her. The good wishes and continued support is phenomenal, thank you all. Rehab is going well and Zara is very determined, she even said the other day she was enjoying it!!! Zara didn't think much to the cheesy chicken fries, but loved the hat!! There's another video on the page so please share it and donating. https://m.facebook.com/thegreatgrandcaymanadventure/?ref=bookmarks
