Story
Happy Hooves Rehabilitation Ltd is a small independent not for profit equine rescue based in South West Wales. Our resident equines range in age from newborn foals to our golden oldie Jacob who is now 36.
Until now Happy Hooves has been entirely self funded but with more and more equines being abandoned or in need of new homes due to the impact of the current financial crisis our small organisation has expanded.
At present we have 18 resident equines with more due to arrive this month and we want to ensure that we can cover the financial costs moving forward and hopefully expand our facilities to enable us to continue taking in those in need and rehoming those who are ready to move onto adoption homes.
All equines in our care remain in our ownership for the remainder of their lives, those that are able to move onto adoption homes are closely monitored to ensure they are being cared for appropriately, this process in itself is costly with annual vet checks undertaken and periodic visits from our team. All our equines are insured and receive regular dental treatment, vaccines and health checks as well as our parasite control programmes.
The average cost to care for each equines in our care is approximately £2,000 per year excluding any emergency care needed so any extra we can raise is a massive help to our cause.
We are currently looking to raise additional funds to cover some of the costs of adding additional field shelters to our paddocks and installing internal stables in our barn to further improve the existing facilities for our current and future residents, help with this will enable us to direct our existing funds to the day to day essential needs such as feed, bedding, routine veterinary care and farrier visits
