    Story

    Gotland 2017 here we come!!

This year, I have been chosen to represent the Western Isles in the Woman's Triple Jump and the Woman's 4x100m relay team at the NatWest World Island Games in Gotland this coming June; so exciting!!

This is a huge competition where islands from all over the world come together to compete in numerous track and field events. I really enjoy training and competing at these big events as it boosts my confidence and allows me to meet a lot of likeminded people.  My goal over the next few years is to continue with my strict training regime aiming towards higher placings within the UK.

I am a dedicated and committed member of the South Uist and Eriskay Amateur Athletics Club, with a strict and intense training programme. It consists of sport specific training on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday and strength and conditioning on a Tuesday and Thursday. Over the past few years I have attended several competitions all over Scotland. However my biggest one was, in fact, the World island games in 2015 which was held in Jersey. That was my first experience at the games, and it was a life changing experience. Competing and representing the whole of the Western Isles was a huge achievement. I competed in the same events - triple jump and 4x100m relay. In the triple jump, I managed to get into the final and I placed 7th, which in my eyes was a great achievement for myself. Our woman's 4x100m relay team placed 3rd in the heat which got us a place in the final. We were also the first ever Western Isles Woman's 4x100m team to complete at the games - which was again, a great achievement.

In the next coming weeks I will be organising other events such as coffee mornings and bag packing to help fundraise for my trip to Gotland. However, your generosity to help and support my expenses to compete at the games will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!! :)
