Story
We are seeking help from the public to pay for the treatment and care of Beth, a little stray cat in Renfrewshire who has been badly injured in a road accident. Beth had been lying injured and unnoticed for around a week, and somehow managed to drag herself to a nearby house to seek help. Among other injuries Beth has a fractured jaw and has lost a great deal of weight due to lack of food..In the absence of an owner Johnstone Cat Rescue has given vets the go ahead to treat Beth, even though we know the cost could run into hundreds of pounds. She will need to have her jaw wired and be treated for a serious infection. We have asked the public for help with previous cats and we are asking again because we believe Beth deserves the best care possible. Please donate what you can. Every £1 will go a long way.

7 years agoBeth has gained a little weight in the last week and has now been released into foster care. Despite the difficulties she has with eating, she is learning to adapt. She is on a special diet of high calorie food. Beth will have to return to the vet for weekly checks on her progress but we are hopeful that she will continue to improve. We expect her final vet bill to reach a four figure sum but we think she's worth it. A huge thank you from us and Beth to all who have donated to her cause.

7 years agoDue to the difficulty Beth has in eating, she is losing even more weight. She is now under two kilos and that is dangerously low. As well as her jaw being wired, she has nerve damage to her mouth/tongue area. Beth cannot eat enough to sustain her and she is very unhappy at being fed through a tube or syringe. The vet has taken Beth home with her and will keep her there for the next week or so see if that encourages her to eat more, but if she continues to lose weight we will have no other option than to agree to her being put out of her misery.

7 years agoBeth is still in her cage at the vet, and not looking very happy about it either! Despite how she looks in the photo, they say she is doing well. With her jaw wired and a very deep wound on her tongue, she is still having problems eating and has lost a lot of weight due to the time between the accident and when she was found and this is a concern. We are keen to get her into a home environment where she can continue the recovery process, but vets say she'll have to stay in for at least another week which is longer than we have budgeted for.

It's brilliant what you are doing. We had 3 cats, but our 2 old girls have passed on now, so only one girl left. From 2 cat lovers to another! Best wishes, Steve & Jemma

Beth has had surgery to wire her jaw and is being fed via a nasal gastric tube into her stomach. She is on an antibiotic drip and is receiving regular pain relief. She also has a deep lacceration on her tongue which we hope will heal quickly.
