Story
Please help Jake Stanley and Ryan Mason, Luke Jakeman; Three Russell's Hall Hospital porters to raise their donation goal of £3000 to help support their fellow 'selfless and kind hearted ' work colleague/dear friend after him being tragically diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Jake,Ryan and Luke are taking part in the Birmingham half marathon to show their support for Ian Martin and his family and would greatly appreciate all donations to help achieve their goal of which will be given to Ian's family to offer them the funds needed to support him in the additional care he now needs to receive on a daily basis. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones and nerves in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles which leads to weakness and wasting. As damage progresses; symptoms spread to other parts of the body and the condition becomes more debilitating.
Eventually, a person with Motor Neurone Disease will be immobilized which means even things like communicating, swallowing and breathing will become challenging. MND disease is a rare condition that affects around two in every 100,000 people in the UK each year. There are estimately 5,000 people living with the condition in the UK with no current cure. Sadly, this means Ian and others diagnosed with this disease inevitably will have to rely on family members or a carer to help them with their simple daily tasks for them to potentially have the best possible quality of life. We plead that you help us raise the money to help Ian Martin and his family get the support needed. The smallest of donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
