With tonight’s run, I wanted to say a thank you to all the people who deal with mental health in the emergency services on a daily basis. However due to the very nature of their jobs, they may have struggled to get out for this challenge and be represented. I ran calling at my local hospital, police and fire station. If it wasn’t for the support of these individuals at the end of a 999 call, mental health may be in an even worse situation. These services as well as the charity itself, are some of the true champions, dealing with mental health.

Tonight Wolds Veterans Club turned out in force. Members tonight suggested to me that there were about 4 times more people than regularly turnout, for this I am truly thankful and greatly appreciate. Running with Wolds Vets there is an age limit. The age limit is that you have to be 35 or older. There maybe age restrictions on this club but the competition is strong. This club showed me ages is all but a number and doesn’t define or limit you as a runner. Don’t let age be your master, you master your age.

Today’s run was a race more than a social run, however this race saw me run with over 800 people. This route also saw me swap out the 10k for a 10mile route. During the run I heard numerous people cheering for their friends and family. A quote that really stuck with me was ‘Run your own race!’ I have heard that phrase before, however I thought today this is true with the mental challenges we all face. We shouldn’t judge ourselves against others. The race maybe long, however in the end it’s only with ourselves.
