Lorie has lived in the UK for several years.She came here to earn money to support her family in the Philippines and to give her children the best life that she could.While she is away from them,she counts down the days to her next annual leave because she can't wait to be back with them,then breaks her heart when she has to leave them again.
Lorie works in a Cancer Centre in Cardiff and she is,without a doubt,the heart of our unit and one of the most hard working women I have ever met in my life.There is nothing that she can't do,and if she can't, she finds out how!She's loved by everyone who knows her and by everyone who meets her.Unfortunately, Lorie is now experiencing what we see families going through every day.Her 25 year old son Jasper has become seriously unwell.She just couldn't cope being away from him with the seriousness of his diagnosis casting a shadow over them all.Lorie returned to the Philippines to take care of Jasper and support her family.Trying to be strong for everyone else, while inside worrying what the next day will bring.
Knowing what Jasper is going through over there is very humbling and makes us realise how lucky we are here in the UK with the NHS.
With costs building up, unfortunately,Lorie has started to worry about her financial situation and how she is going to manage to pay all the medical bills that lie ahead of them when there are still so many costly and urgent tests/investigations to be done and then treatment when a full diagnosis is given.
