Lisa has been in my life for the last 18 years. She was married to my Dad for 14 years. During this time, she treated my three siblings and I as her own and went on to give birth to her own four children: Liam 18, Paige 17, Kieran 16 and Connor 14. She’s also a nana to our children!
In 2016, Lisa was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. This was devastating for the whole family – especially as Lisa was only 34 years old. Lisa remained strong as she battled the cancer. Seven weeks ago, Lisa was given the amazing news that she had beaten her cancer and was heading for the path of remission.
On Monday 13th March, Lisa collapsed and was admitted into hospital with a suspected blood clot. Investigational scans revealed that Lisa’s cancer has returned and spread to four other areas of the body. It has developed to Stage 4, which is classified as terminal. Lisa is remaining positive and has decided to make a bucket list. Lisa’s wants to make many memories that we all get to treasure, and for the children to remember.
The whole family have never had a family holiday – due to the size of my family and cost of the trip. However, I would like to raise enough money to organise a family holiday to Jersey before Lisa’s cancer causes any further deterioration. This holiday would be the greatest gift for my family – allowing them to spend precious quality time together. I hope to achieve this goal by September 2017! I also have the amazing support of Macmillan Cancer Support. Any additional funds raised will be donated to this fantastic charity.
