Story
The first night I went to this Masjid was on a motorbike with Eman. As soon as the bike switched off the area was pitch black. We prayed Esha and I was in awe of the surroundings. I could not recognise the person next to me! I told Eman I wanted to pray here everyday.
The next morning he woke me up for Fajr and we went by bike. I had to do Wudu and the brothers there helped me by pouring water from a jug. The approach to the Masjid was in the dark and the prayers were led without light. Afterwards, the Imam gave a few lessons of Quran and we socialized until sunrise. I had never prayed in a place like this.
I've been to Turkey, Spain and around the Middle East to see Islamic architecture, but nothing compares to the feeling you have when you take away all the decorations and are just left with simplicity. It's pure, unpretentious and most of all I can just imagine early Muslims, even the Sahaba praying in place like this.
I promised the Imam and the brother who brought me here that I will do whatever I can to help them fix the Masjid. It is in a bad state; no wudu, toilets, lights and a badly leaking roof.
No matter how much we raise all the money Insha'Allah will go to this Masjid.
Our aim is to raise £15,000 to rebuild the Masjid, this includes:
- Reconstruction of the complete building, minaret and mihrab
- Toilet fixtures and plumbing
- Wudu facilities
- Ladies entrance (with toilet and wudu facility)
- Sound system (Microphone, speakers, amplifier)
- Lights and other general improvements
- Copies of The Quran and books for the community
We will make use of materials and skilled workforce available locally, greatly helping the local community.
As a guardian for all donations, we will not spend the money on:
- Flights and travel expenses
- Food and person items
Insha’Allah all the money will go for rebuilding the Masjid project only. Money left over will be spent for the community only. May Allah assist us. Ameen

8 years agoThis is how the Masjid right now. From all the support we've got this will go down and the rubble reused to rebuild a new Masjid, with water, lights, speakers, a Library and Womens area. The love from everyone has been overwhelming. SubhanAllah, we went for a holiday and I said to the guys at the village; 'I got a feeling I'm going to be coming back here'...... Now just 3 months on we've raised enough to start the project. Jazaka'Allah______ ....their reward is with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve” [2:261]

8 years agoTo Everyone, JAZAK'ALLAH!!! The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever gives charity equal to a date from good (halal) earnings – for Allaah does not accept anything but that which is good – Allaah will take it in His right hand and tend it for the one who gave it as any one of you tends his foal, until it becomes like a mountain.” Bukhaari, 1344______________ I love the words of Our Prophet (S.A.W.)! May Allah reward us and forgive our sins. Ameen.

8 years agoAssalamulakum All. I have reduced the amount needed as some people have donated money to me directly. This will further change InshaAllah as I receive further donations. Also the JustGiving page will expire on 20th Jan so I can collect the money in time to take to Tanzania. Keep the donations coming, just a bit more to go InshaAllah. Keep spreading the word. May Allah help us. Ameen.

Going to this part of Tanzania with my wife was meant to detox us from city life and get closer to nature. We went see the mountains, Sanje waterfalls and the wildlife. As we came to know the people and community we felt a need to help them. A small amount goes a far way here.
