Conditions in the Calais Jungle are grim. Refugees in the camp have fled war and persecution to find sanctuary but are in a no-man’s land abandoned by the British and French governments. Arrivals, lacking basic clothing, add to the crowding in the camp and all need to be fed. We are responding to a cry for help from the local British volunteer groups whose warehouses are running dangerously low on essential supplies. Shoes are desperately needed.

Fleet Aid for Calais believes that we have a moral obligation to support our fellow human beings. These refugees are in desperate need and are on our door step. We are proud that it is British volunteers who are making a difference and their organisational skills ensure that the generous donations of the British people are used effectively. The situation of the refugees in Calais is awful but we can make a difference.

Cash is needed for a bulk purchase of waterproof boots to replace flip flops and broken footwear. A pair will cost £20 if we can order 100. We will take these to Calais in October alongside food and sleeping bags.

We will be able to distribute everything on our next visit on 1st & 2nd October.
