Story

After both having our own causes very close to our hearts myself and my dear, equally crazy friend Eleri Burkinshaw wanted to do something epic! we decided to do a gruelling 12 events in 12 months - ending with the famous London Marathon. With a token extra event making it 13 for luck adding in the nataional 3 peaks challenge to celebrate 20 years of nats business - Game on Sports Therapy- with a team totally 17 equally crazy people!

This page is where we will collect for anything joint fundraising we do - ie quiz night , 3 peaks and Sutton ultra etc - the total will be equally split between our charities that are Sarcoma U.K. and Prostate Cancer Uk- everything else will be collected via out personal individual pages.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated in a hope to help the future ❤️

For our 12 month journey we are raising funds for Two charities, Sarcoma uk & Prostate Cancer Uk. We have chosen these two charities as many people know our love behind them, for those who don’t……..

Eleri’s oldest & dearest siswah, Cara & lovely husbands Moss’s little boy Zachary Evans (Beanie) passed away on 22nd April 2020 at just 2 years old.

After a shock diagnosis of Rhabdomyosarcoma. He embarked on a brutal treatment plan that saw him face a number of devastating side effects. Unfortunately even such intensive chemotherapy was no match for what was growing inside his tiny body. His friends and family we are devastated by this enormous loss. All we have left is to battle on raising money and awareness to ensure that children that will have to fight this illness have a better chance than Zac did.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

In January 2023 Natalies husband Rob was diagnosed with prostate cancer aged 47. ! In March 2023 he under went surgery, having a prostatectomy, this was given to be his best option due to his young age and the fact of the grade of his cancer. He is , to  date making an amazing recovery. I am so thankful and so very proud of Rob and we are both passionate about raising awareness with men, as Robs cancer was found almost by fluke- so a real bitter sweet process of being thankful that hopefully it’s been caught early and on the other hand our worlds falling apart and trying desperately maintain the norm to get him better !

Nat decided to raise for prostate cancer uk, after chatting with Rob about our events and he was very passionate about he amazing work and support that prostate cancer uk give. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That's one dad, partner, brother, son, grandad, uncle or mate. I'm raising money to help fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.

Throw back to last year entering the ballot for London marathon, Eleri & Natalie thinking we would never get in, made a pact that if one us gets in the other would go for a charity place…of course one of us got a place...So here we are.

Deciding how we could keep morale for a year we decided to do 12 in 12. 12 Challenges in 12 months, April ‘23 to April ‘24, The finale being London Marathon!

So far we have completed:

Cathedral to Castle in April, (10 mile multi terrain run)

Birmingham Half Marathon in May,

Sutton fun run in June, (8.5miles of hilly not so fun terrain)

A no show of Sunrise, sunrise hike up snowdon in July ( with only an hours sleep in the car)

the cotwolds Trail Half marathon (which was 15 miles no we didn’t get lost apparently that’s how trail runs do it) in July

Now at our 6 month mark, September, it’s a big one.

The 3 Peaks Challenge,

The 3 peaks challenge- Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike & Snowdon in 24 Hours.

We thought it was about time to kick start fundraising with a nice bonus of celebration of nats 20 years of business ‘Game On Sports Therapy’ keeping us is all moving since 2003.

(We also ended up doing the Great North Run,(THE WEEKEND BEFORE THE 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE!!)- yet again Eleri & Nat getting a ballot place & Eleri was just leaving her to it, however 2 weeks before. Nat’s Friend dropped out so Eleri joined as Emily) So now it’s the 13 in 12.

To come:

Month 7 October sees us doing the great south run which is a costal 10 mile run in Portsmouth, because why not do north & south.

November we will be doing the Sutton Ultra, something we totally made up, which consist of 50k round Sutton Coldfield, this will be broke up into 6 loops, the first 2 will be 5k and 4 x10k loops. Hoping to get as many people joining us for what & when they can though out the day.

December A 5k dress up Christmas run for the lols.

January- sherwood pines forest 10k trail

February - warwick half marathon

March - Ashby 20, 20 miles around Ashby, good prep for the big one the following month.

April- THE LONDON MARATHON!!!!!!!!! 🥇

February - Warwick half marathon! Wow what a hilly, rural route! Neither of us feeling it on the lead up or on the morning - with the miles taking their toll and Nat getting over a stomach bug - we rocked up at the racecourse ready to start- we had a plan- we didn’t stick to it at all 😬 and are we glad! We smashed it ! Massive PBS for us both!!! ELERI 1:53:42 and Nat 1:54:21!!!!! February done and smashed ✅💣🔥
