£330raised of £500 target by 20 supporters

Weʼve raised £330 to help fund Christmas Hampers in East Leeds.

    Leeds, United Kingdom
Funded on Monday, 2nd October 2017

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

East Leeds sadly has some of the highest poverty and deprivation levels in the UK. Each year a small community charity, Community Unity, based within the area, fund raises to share community, love and food via the means of Christmas hampers, to those struggling in the area. The hampers are full of goodies for either single people or families and aim to provide a hot meal and some Christmas treats over the festive period. Each hamper is made according to referrals from multi agencies, schools, elderly care services, social care and such the like, to ensure those in need are those who receive. They are indeed a real blessing of community cohesiveness and Christmas joy but each year are getting harder and harder to fund. In part because of food costs and in part because of demand.
This year I have set myself a challenge of "Walking 1000 miles" and rather than it be solely a self centered hedonistic challenge ( well that may be pushing it) I thought it would be far more beneficial to share the joy in more ways than one. The 1000 miles is actual walks, rather than steps and covers the span of the year. It equates to walking around 19 miles a week,so about 2.7 miles a day, every day, all weathers. I shall be logging my progress each day on Accupedo to start with, so walking evidence is available.
So if in effect you would like to spur me on in this challenge and benefit lots of lovely people being hit with hardship, please, please donate.
I have set an aim of £500, which is only 50p/mile, fantastic value but will pay for approximately 30 family hampers....the more money, the more happy families and community Christmas joy.....go on, you know really you want to be Father Christmas, this is your chance! Thank you!!!!
