Story
Following the withdrawal of police support for traffic management of the annual Remembrance day parade in Short Heath it is now down to the local community to support fund raising to ensure this event can continue to take place.
Walsall Council, like last year have agreed to pay £1000 (excluding VAT) towards the cost of the traffic management for the 2017 parade, however we need, as a community to look to raise an additional £3,000-£4,000 – if not there is a chance the event will not take place this year. With austerity cuts continuing we may also need to secure funding for future years in order for our parade to continue to take place.
The parade has been taking place for many years in Short Heath, and is an event that sees the spirit of our community come alive with many remembering and honouring those who sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom.
Please help in any way you can, however big or small to ensure we continue to remember and honour all members of the armed forces who have sacrificed themselves and help us to remember them for years to come.

The fact that the council aren't funding this entirely disgusts me but let's all pull together and save our Remembrance Sunday celebrations.
