So due to no fault of her own my beautiful girl is coming back to me as her current loaner can no longer keep her.
I'm hoping that I can appeal to people's better nature and ask for your help. She has just been diagnosed with Cushing's (December 2016) which has brought the onset laminitis. She is currently on box rest whilst her medication takes effect and we can find a balance to keep the Cushing's under control. Her feet are currently under the good work of Paul Gordon (specialist remedial farrier). I am just about able to cover the costs of her medication and remedial farrier care but my finances just will not stretch to covering livery fees and care as well. Even if I could cover her livery fees caring for her would be impossible as my husband is severely allergic to horses something that has developed over the last few years.
I'm in an impossible situation if I can't find the money to start paying for livery/stabling fees for her by the end of the month then I will have no option but to have her put to sleep. It breaks my heart as I've owned her for 20 years she doesn't have a bad bone in her body she's so affectionate and loving. She is so bright and spirited I trust this pony with my life. Once her Cushing's has been stabilised she will be able to be ridden again and she is the perfect children's pony but I will be lucky to find someone willing to take on a pony of 23 years of age with these kinds of health issues. I'm not prepared to sell her she's been in my life too long, I won't have her being passed from pillar to post she deserves more.
Realistically she only has a few years left and I want to make them as comfortable and as enjoyable as I can for her.
The money I am trying to raise is to cover her stabling fees based on her being on full livery for the next year. If I find myself in a position where I am able to afford the stabling fees within the next 12 months then any money raised that is left over I will donate to an equine charity.
