Supporting Bedouin families in Sinai desert (EGYPT). With the ever growing issues in Egypt and the tourist industry collapsing in Sharm El Sheikh (SES) and surrounding areas of Egypt, many people have returned back to the Bedouin routes and to their families in Sinai. Recently I got the opportunity to meet Sheikh Ahmad in London. The Sheikh is an advisor to all the Bedouin tribes in the country. We sit and started discussing the issues and the work required. As the conversation became more detailed it was evident from the Sheikh the issues and problems faced by some families who lacked basis food and equipment due to poverty and a lack of job income from the closure of tourism work in SES. I began by asking how we could support from the UK. The Sheikh answered ‘we could help people in the area by buying them a food pack or paying towards some form of equipment to make their tourism work they do more effective and professional’.This is when I said to the Sheikh I would like to help as I have watched programmes about the destruction of the tourism trade in Egypt following the Russian plane bomb incident, ISIL attacks around SES etc etc. I have been invited by the Sheikh to visit the area and analyse what area of work can be supported and at what level. My initial target would be to raise around £2500+ and go with the Sheikh and purchase food packs and distribute them with his help to some of the 12 local Bedouin tribes along the path. This would be the initial start up project with a plan to develop further project plans and ideas which could leave a more sustainable link within the region and build a stronger platform for Aid charities in the UK to support.
