Our brother, Walid Tayarah, was diagnosed with advance stage lung cancer in early January 2016 . Without health insurance, family and friends have tried in vain for almost a year to cover the costs of his medical treatment. However we are now struggling. We have 14 days to source 4000 O.R (£8000) to pay for next month's treatment. There are no funds for us to even finance a hospital admission if he was admitted or a scan if he required one. We are heartbroken that we no longer have funds to finance his last chance.

In August this year, Walid was started on a new drug, nivolumab, a last effort to try to curb the disease at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Oman. Five months later, he has stopped taking high dose morphine with his oncologist stating he has shown "remarkable improvement". We desperately want to continue treatment for his sake and that of his young family.

We also hope through our campaign to raise awareness of the Syrian cancer crisis happening across the world. The ongoing war has resulted in many displaced Syrians, suffering from advanced-stage disease, being turned away when they seek care. The chance to survive taken away from many.

نحن عائلة سورية تقطن في مسقط- عمان. تم تشخيص أخي وليد طيارة و هو أب عمره واحد و أربعون عاماً بسرطان الرئة في مراحله المتقدمة في أوائل يناير 2016. من دون تأمين صحي، قامت العائلة والأصدقاء لمدة عام تقريبا بتغطية تكاليف العلاج الطبي حتى تمت مرحلة العلاج الكيماوي و دخلنا منذ بضعة أشهر في مرحلة العلاج المناعي . لدينا 14 يوما لدفع تكلفة الجرعة القادمة و نحتاج المساعدة في تامين المبلغ الذي سوف يتم تحويله إلى مستشفى جامعة السلطان قابوس .
في اغسطس من هذا العام، بدأ وليد على دواء جديد، نيفولوماب، وليد إستجاب للعلاج حتى أنه توقف عن تناول جرعات عالية من المورفين و لاحظ طبيبه "تحسنا ملحوظا". تكلفة الجرعة أربعة الاف ريال عماني. نرجو الدعم.
