Story
VFE are proudly supporting Stand Against Motor Neurone Disease by taking part in a team cycle challenge.
This charity event will see the team cycle the equivalent distance of Lands’ End to John o Groats and back again, spanning a total of 1748 miles!
The ride will take place over a 9 day period from 10th July - 19th July 2020, and will be ridden in the team’s local areas either on the roads or on a stationary bike.
The 1748 miles will be ridden between the 8 riders, and in addition Sam is also going to be taking part using specialist pedals.
Total miles cycled by all will be tracked and verified every day via a cycle tracking app.
This is a cause that is very personal to Phil Neath and his family. Phil’s nephew, Sam Perkins was very sadly diagnosed with Motor neurone disease in 2019.
Motor neurone disease is a rare incurable condition that progressively damages parts of the nervous system. Motor neurone disease, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), occurs when specialist nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord called motor neurones stop working properly.
Sam with the support of his family have launched this charity to raise funds that will pay for research into a cure, and help to fund hospice care for those affected by MND.
Sam is 38, and his full story can be found at the following Just Giving page;
