Story
I AM RUNNING THE MANCHESTER 10K
On December 20th 2016 Wrexham Football Club and The Racecourse Ground were officially recognised by The Alzheimer's Society as a dementia friendly community. It is the first dementia friendly football club in Wales and amongst the first in the UK
Our aim at the Football Club is for the Racecourse to be an accessible and inclusive club and sporting venue. This money will help us to carry out further improvements to the stadium including dementia friendly signage and a small amount of modifications. This work will not only benefit those living with dementia but others as well that may find, for whatever reason, attending an event at The Racecourse more challenging than a typical fan.
We have a long list of improvements that will benefit people with a learning disability, autism, visual impairments, physical disabilities and many other conditions not to mention your typical football fan attending The Racecourse for the first time.
The £500 target will help hugely in providing the signage but any other money raised will enhance the match day experience all round so please, however small it is, make a donation to help us make the oldest international football ground in the world, as inclusive and accessible as is reasonably possible.
Most of you wont know this but I am actually classed as ambulant disabled. Unfortunately, my health can impact on my match day experience and i require somewhere to administer pain relief when needed (Through our dementia work, a quiet area is available at The Racecourse). So please do not think that I am just putting my hand out for your money as this is not the case. I am challenging myself doing the Manchester 10k, with the aim of helping more people to be able to do something that most of us take for granted - watch their local football team in a safe and suitable environment.
THANK YOU!
