Story
Wazazi Bora kwa Watoto Bora
(Good Parents for Good Children)
As the founder of WBWB I firmly believe that the social attitude in Tanzania towards women in the country is both outdated and is detrimental towards our countries progression. As of today, a majority of women in Tanzania are subject to the overwhelming opinion that they cannot contribute to society.
This ideal alone cuts our nations ability to progress in half. Not only this but having this suppressing attitude towards them may make them feel trapped in traditional ways of living, waiting hand and foot for the men in their lives, and their children. While women are taught catering skills from a young age and have it hardwired into them that ‘This is how it has been, will be, and should be’. Causing their creative minds and individual talents to go to waste, and their voices to not be heard.
Women have just as much of an ability and a right to contribute to their societies as men. The social attitude needs to change, and I believe it is my duty as an agent of change to try and free them from this harmful belief, and with this change the country as a whole can progress out of poverty and will allow us to develop, with happier lives for all.
My mother is proof of how much of a driving force women can be, as my parents divorced when I was young, leaving my mother to raise me on her own. She is a passionate, dedicated and motivated woman who has passed these traits to myself. I have seen how strong, how caring, how devoted women can be. I just want my country to realize it.
The money will go towards transportation to ensure I can reach the most of Tanzania possible, create awareness-raising t-shirts and guides, and I will also provide entrepreneurship skills to women which I will need some resources to ensure I can give them the most in-depth education possible. The total target is an estimated amount for 1 year. Together we can make this change.
Nothing changes without action.
Thank you
