WOMAN is a social and artistic project, where different female artists have discussed and shared ideas about violence towards women in society nowadays.
Women have been historically treated with inferiority and victims of repression and violence. Artists Grise Malayerba, Aránzazu Pérez, Maria Linares and Cristina Cuevas have organised an exhibition and workshops in the Hamilton House in Bristol from the 17th-22nd of February that explores how different gender issues, like domestic violence, gender inequality and sociocultural repression, affect women in the world and show artists' rejection to all these issues through art. Some of their works confront and criticize the twisted ideologies about women in the media and society, while others show solidarity in the struggle for women’s equality.
There will be an opening night on Friday 17th of February from 6.00-8.30PM with a talk “Women Issues in Art” by Lola Carpio and a wall painting on Saturday 18th of February at 12.00 all for free.
