    Story

THE BUS SHELTER IPSWICH CIC provides a safe and stable temporary home for rough sleepers, hoping to reduce the 'need' to sleep rough on our streets, by giving them a sense of being and family to help rebuild their lives in our community.

When I was a Policeman in Ipswich, I often saw the dark side of life for rough sleepers, doing what I could and where I could to support them in their troubled lives.

The Bus Shelter Ipswich provides me with an opportunity to continue helping despite now being disabled with Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, which has got me to a point where I am unable to walk more than a few metres unaided.

With two walking sticks and a splint on my right leg, I can hobble slowly, so I am doing this to raise funds to support the Bus Shelter, and raise awareness for a solid cause.

I will be 'Hobbling' 100 miles in a 10 week period, the aim to complete by 9th July... SADLY, MS Fatigue has now lengthened the time this is all going to take, currently limiting the maximum distance I can hobble to just one mile each time I go out

Just One Mile To Go Tomorrow morning will see the final mile of The Hobble For Hope, with a bit of company from the Mayor of Ipswich, The outgoing Mayor of Felixstowe, as well as some very special people. Thank you everyone for your support throughout the months that I have been hobbling along, I have truly enjoyed your company, and especially the cacophony of noise from the lorry drivers!

The change in tempo due to the MS Fatigue has altered the daily walk to 1 mile a day. I have completed mil 47, so 53 miles still to go, plenty of time to donate if you would like! The 10 week starting target is clearly out of the window now, but a further 10 weeks from now will certainly see me getting close.

I will be 59 years old at the start of this challenge, and will have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 28 years ago. I have always enjoyed helping others, no more so than during 22 years as a Police Constable. Now retired, my time is free, enabling me to keep helping
