Story
In 2016, at 9 mths old, Charlie Shirran the son of good friends' Mark & Jo, was diagnosed with high risk neuroblastoma. The diagnosis with aggressive therapy, is around 50% for 3-5 year survival.
Unfortunately, despite treatment, relapse rates are high. For these individuals options are limited and families are faced with huge costs of seeking treatment in the US through participation in research trial.
The plan is now for Charlie to go over to the States as soon as his standard treatment finishes in Australia, where he will receive a vaccine aimed to prevent relapse of this dreadful disease and hold him in remission.
I am planning a 24 hour board game a thon on 17th February to raise money to help Charlie. The money raised from this gameathon will go directly to 'Chasing Charlie's Cure' a charity set up by Mark and Jo, so that together we might provide Charlie with the very best chance of beating this awful disease
Any money that does not go directly to supporting Charlie's costs for treatment will go directly to neuroblastoma research. Please see 'Chasing Charlie's Cure' for further details
