In June, I am taking part in a wildlife conservation project in South Africa for a month. During this project I will be helping the conservation of Africa's big 5, including the lion, the African Elephant, the Cape Buffalo, the leopard and the rhinoceros, 3 of which are in the top ten of Africa's most endangered. I will also be taking part in the rehabilitation program of both injured and orphaned animals as well as hand reared cubs who will be later released into the wild following a successful breeding program. Fence patrolling will also be a key part of my trip which will help to ensure all safety of the animals. I decided to go on this project to help put me onto the path of my future career in the hope it can give me experience that I can use in competitive jobs by dealing with situations and animals that we do not usually come across everyday. This experience will not only help me to point me in the right direction, but help me understand various ways of living and different cultures as well as meet new people who have similar interests to myself.
