Last year – 2017, I completed a 10k run (see a photo of medal) in Manchester during Ramadan. The 10k was done while completely fasting – abstaining from all food and liquids, breaking my fast at sunset, around 9:40 pm. Please see link below for further details of last years 10K charity run.

This year I am going one step further, pushing boundaries and need your help and support. This year I will be running the Manchester Half Marathon in Ramadan, again for charity. While completely fasting, until sunset (around 9:20 pm).

Millions of people all over the world do not have access to clean, accessible and affordable drinking water. Anybody who has been abroad to a hot country or even on a hot summers day in the United Kingdom will quickly appreciate the value of accessible clean water. Considering the human body is made up more than 70% water. I believe it is a human right to have access to clean, safe drinking water.

Consider for a moment how vital and central water is to our lives, from daily showers, cups of tea, washing clothes to all the other countless ways water is used. Often water is taken for granted. How different would our lives be if all the taps in our homes stopped working and there was no accessible, clean drinking water?

This is the stark reality faced by millions of people in poverty-stricken countries. Clean water should not be a privilege, but a human right.

Depending on how much money is raised either several tube wells or one deepwater well will be built. Alternatively, a combination of both may be done in order to get maximum benefit for the money you have donated. From when the donations are collected, completing a water well project can take up to approximately 12 months.
