    Story

#touchatrig Campaign. Activate Health & Well-being CIC offer a person centred approach to increasing physical activity and mental well-being.

We support the community to make outdoor activity accessible using education, coaching and training pathways. Activate will support individuals, groups and families to develop the skills to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

John, Wayne & Graham – are ex-servicemen from the Queens Lancashire Regiment. (1QLR). They served a total of around 30 years between them.

As ex-service men and as Directors of Activate, the team are passionate about supporting veteran’s to access housing options as a foundation to adapt to civilian life.
    • Two in ten of the ex-service community (870,000 people) had turned the heating down or off, despite it being too cold (a measure of fuel poverty).
    • Ex-service personnel are more likely to sleep rough and for longer periods
    • There is a greater reluctance to seek help with the ex-service community
    • The majority of homeless veterans are white, single males (many divorced or separated)
    • Higher likelihood of alcoholism and have a greater need for dual diagnosis care (e.g. psychiatric problems and alcohol dependency)
    • A high proportion of homeless veterans stay in the area surrounding the military base at which they served

Activate Health and Well-being CIC have developed an innovative campaign to raise much needed awareness of this problem and raise funds to offer support.

Activate Health & Well-being CIC will lead a team of veterans (on our first veteran only walk) to touch a trig point and then set up an overnight camp to utilise old skills, share experiences and build social networks.

Each person who touches the trig point will donate £5 (or more if they wish) to the #touchatrig take a snap shot/video and will then nominate three other people to do the same.We hope this will create a spiral effect to replicate recent challenges such as ‘22 press ups for 22 days’
