    Story

We’re raising £2,845 for Nettleham Bowls Club. The greens ditches and edges desperately need replacement. They were last replaced in 1974.Despite yearly maintenance they have reached the end of their useful life, should they collapse the green would become unsafe to use and that could mean the end of the club. We have just celebrated our eightieth birthday. Our playing surface is one of the best respected around, and as such we are invited to host various county and league finals matches, we also host visiting teams from all over the country.

Nettleham is a large village. with over 3,500 local residents. However there is a severe shortage of community facilities, and even less that provide community access/hours to local groups.By funding our refurbishment you will provide the significant beneficial impacts to our community that are listed below.

    (1) At least 430 people a year will be able to access high quality and safe facilities for a game of bowls, this would include members, non members, visiting spectators and the general public.

(2). We would provide access to community groups for example the girl guides, scouts, Cubs, university of the 3rd age etc.The police already use our facilities, we also have in place an active after school club attended by around 30 junior school pupils. This will provide over 500 individuals with the benefits of this refurbished facility.

    (3) We would provide access to regular community events such as fairs. Car boot sales, charity fundraisers etc. We could host annual events such as bonfire night and Halloween parties etc, we have already hosted birthday parties and Wakes .This could provide in excess of 1,250 people access to our refurbished facilities.

We have applied for funding to support the refurbishment of our facilities from Landfill communities funding, but to be successful we require some third party funding. As a club we are putting in over £5,000, all raised by our members efforts, to support the development, but we now need the support of the generous general public, businesses and other organisations in order to raise the final £2845.

Any funding raised could be used to release Landfill Communities Funding in the form of Third Party Contributions
