Story
Adams Story
Three and a half years ago, Adam was diagnosed with incurable cancer and given months to live. He was a fit, vibrant, healthy young man. A diligent lawyer, a loving husband and an expectant father. His entire life turned upside down. He had too many tumours to count across his liver, lungs and pancreas.
But thanks to the generous donations we received via his original just-giving, he defied the odds. Thanks to a mix of alternative treatments and traditional medicine he is still with us today, and despite chemotherapy expecting to leave him infertile, he and his wife had their second child three months ago.
But the road to recovery has been unforgiving. Half his liver was removed in a seven-hour surgery to rid the organ of disease. At times during chemo, he was literally killing himself to try and stay alive. That's the irony of such a cold, cruel medicine. But what stood out most was his discipline. The hours of research into alternative treatments, his unwavering commitment to the strictest diets and a supplement regime that professional athletes couldn't match. Adam didn't even flinch.
After three years of fighting, he was blessed with some great news six months ago. The doctors classified him as having no evidence of disease. Not a single tumour could be seen in his body. An outcome that doctors had deemed impossible and one that offered a lease of life beyond anything previously imaginable. It felt like he could live once more.
But on Wednesday, December 21st, four nights before Christmas, Adams world came crashing down again. Following a routine scan, new tumours were found. Not just one, but ten. He will likely need third-line chemotherapy to treat them. It's not worth reading the statistics on third-line chemo, partly because they are too morbid but mainly because those numbers don't apply to Adam. He is forging his own destiny.
This is where we need your help. His alternative treatment regime must kick on again to give Adam the best shot at the future he deserves. There are other options available as well, including immunotherapy. But these treatments are costly and not covered by insurance. So, in order to help Adams fundraising a group of 25 of us (the youngest being just 5 years old) are completing the inflatable run at Harewood House on 10th June. Please sponsor us and come down to cheer us on if you can! It is sure to be an entertaining watch!
