Our friend recently lost her pet dog 'Kye' (pictured in the foreground) due to a sudden illness (within 24hrs). The vet gave a 20% chance of surgery survival and an estimated surgery cost of £1500 however given that there was a slim chance Kye could make it and with not enough money she opted to give Kye a chance.
Kye started to display symptoms of being unwell on Saturday 24th June during the afternoon, his conditioned worsened rapidly and after calls to the vets it was decided that he should be seen urgently. He was diagnosed with a burst tumor in his spleen with the potential that cancer could have spread to other organs. Kye was constantantly bleeding internally so a quick decision had to be made. Up until the day of diagnosis and surgery Kye was very fit and active and displayed no symptoms.
The whole episode came as a great shock and has caused great distress to our friend.
The vet performed surgery during the Saturday night / early hours Sunday. Once Kye was in surgery the vet diagnosed the spread of cancer and decided the only route possible was to put Kye to sleep.
Our friend does not yet know about this attempt to raise funds towards the cost of surgery. She is currently not in a position to pay the vet the full amount with starting a new job and having to work a month in hand.
