    Story

In February 2017 I am running the Man-upuk Ras Dewi Sant Coastal Path Trail half-marathon to help raise funds for my cousin's son Ethan who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. Ethan is going through surgery called selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) which is not funded by the NHS, and any funds raised will also go a long way towards helping with the cost of the on-going therapy that he needs to gain greater independence.

He is a bright and bubbly 4 year old who is lots of fun to be around. He enjoys school and family life but unfortunately, his cerebral palsy means he has difficulty walking and moving around by himself. He uses a wheelchair and walking frame for short distances but muscle stiffness can make him very uncomfortable.

He has achieved a huge amount so far in his life and will achieve so much more with the right treatment, therapy and support. The SDR surgery involves an operation to his spine to permanently reduce the spasticity in his legs.

Ethan's family have received amazing support from the NHS but as stated, this procedure is currently self-funded, so I am doing my part to help raise £35,000 for Just4Children to fund this life changing surgery and aftercare. The surgery is being carried out in Leeds in November 2016.

If you have anything you can spare towards this wonderful cause it will be hugely appreciated by me and the family. All that I ask is, if you are willing, that you please do not donate anonymously so that I'm able to show my appreciation for your kindness. Thank you. Adrian x
