In late 2017, I volunteered as a team leader in Ghana on a livelihood project. While there I came across the alliance for environmental intervention, a youth organisation that is committed to raising environmental champions to address the 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th and 15th sustainable development goals through advocacy and practical engagements. I was thrilled by some of their previous projects; training farmers in conservation agriculture while providing all inputs at no cost to beneficiaries, embarking on a one child one tree project which engaged students in practical tree planting exercises, awareness creation on the sustainable development goals in schools and at youth gatherings.

This year, Alliance for environmental intervention is embarking on yet, very relevant projects including; an environmental essay competition for children aged 9-15, and the best three will be rewarded with a laptop, desk top computer, a bicycle and other educational materials, again there will be outreaches to a target of 5,000 students and the establishment of 1000 trees in 2018, the third flagship program will be an entrepreneurial training session for tertiary students with passion for green technology and would require an amount of 5,000 pounds to do these.

On my part, I decided to help alliance for environmental intervention raise the required amount needed to execute all these projects and others successfully. We owe it to ourselves and next generation to conserve the environment so that we can bequeath our children a sustainable world that benefits’’…Wangari Mathaai.
