Weʼve raised £340 to help Akwasi purchase PCs/Laptops for Apewu District Assembly Junior High School in Ghana

    London, UK
Funded on Monday, 26th November 2018

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

Akwasi, a Security Officer in the UK watched a documentary on BBC which showed how a local community in the UK came together to help a School in Africa by sourcing useful items like books.

This inspired him to visit Ghana and purchase tables and chairs for a local school. The teachers there now use a brick (closest resemblance they can find) to show students what a computer mouse looks like.

Akwasi would now like to take laptops/PCs to the school so the students can learn how to use a computer. Please help Akwasi with whatever contribution you can make. I will upload receipts once purchases have been made and share photographs of laptops being used/delivered.

    Thank you for your support!

Receipt for the remaining 3 laptops ordered after successful test of the first one. Each Laptop cost £99.99 but thanks to seller, Eflex Computers who provided a discount of £15 per laptop which is a total of £60 off for this good cause. Laptops are being handed over to Akwasi on Monday, 17th December. Pics to follow. Thank you all :)

Thanks to you all, we raised £340. Justgiving charge fees for using their services hence I received £318.60. I covered full fees so your donations were used purely for purchase of Laptops. Receipts to follow on separate posts...

Having brought up in Kenya and not having access to a computer until later on in life, I appreciate it even more and relate to the School kids in Ghana who do not have this privilege. They will be thrilled to use these PCs and learn the way we learn here in the UK!
