The Phoenix Hall was built over 30 years ago and has a small kitchenette for making teas. To provide cooked food for the senior citizens the organiser has to cook the food in her own home and bring it to the hall. A few years ago the hall committee embarked on a project to use half of the large store as a kitchen and with the help of grants from the local parish councils, the area board and the village lottery the space was prepared for use as a kitchen in accordance with building regulations. The final phase is to fit out the kitchen with cooker, fridge, freezer, sinks, worktops, cupboards and servery. As-new cupboards and worktops were salvaged from an existing kitchen whilst painting has been carried out by volunteers. The money will be used to pay qualified tradesmen to fit the equipment safely.
