For my final year within my Paediatric Nursing Degree I am hoping to help children, families and communities in Uganda.

This is a 4 week elective placement where myself alongside other students will be helping those out in Uganda. The money raised for the trip also includes a generous donation to all the charities that help support nurse Uganda and allow some of the amazing placement opportunities.

I have had the pleasure to briefly meet the founder (Catherine Spreckley) whilst being on placement and have been inspired by her story, as well as having ambitions of my own to go abroad for my elective placement to witness and experience what healthcare is like within the developing world.

Nurse Uganda work alongside KISS (Kiddies Support Scheme) Charity to offer lifesaving tests and treatment.

I am hoping to use this opportunity to gain a greater understanding of how developing countries manage their healthcare and use this experience to implement and shape my nursing, when I finally become qualified as a registered nurse.
