In July I will be going to Meio da Serra, Petropolis in Brazil for a two week mission with the BCYS. We will be working with a local charity to do projects with the children as well as teaching them English.

Some of the things we will be doing include sports, face painting, glitter tattoos, oragami, rosary bead making, music and dancing. We will be encouraging the children to create a 'Wall of Dreams', helping them to set goals for the future and to realise that if they are ambitious and hard working then they can achieve these goals. Another aim of the trip is to go to the local houses and pray with the families (some prayers will even be in our attempted Brazilian Portuguese!).

We will be teaching some of the children in the schools to help increase their English vocabulary. The lessons I am involved in will be about names of animals as well as colours and countries that the animals come from. These lessons will be taught using a variety of resources that we will be bringing with us or bying whilst out there.

The whole mission costs £1250 and so I will be organising various fundraising events but would be very greatful for any donations. A large amount of this money will be going toward the resources for our lessons and activities. We are hoping to leave as much of this with the Brazilian schools and charity as we can. The rest will be spent on things such as travel. We are lucky enough to be staying with host families so will not need funds for accomodation.
