We are a group of people who have adopted a misused area in Emersons green Park. We are working with permission from South Gloucester Council to turn this area into a family friendly place. We hope to show through bespoke wood carvings, the links between nature, animals and humans, and how each group relies on the other to survive.

This area had previously been used by drug takers and drinkers and we were concerned to find evidence of this. Our biggest concern was that there is a children's nursery directly behind this area and a children's play ground in front of it. This happened because the area was enclosed by high hedges which made it very secluded. South Gloucester council have now removed these hedges and made the area open. We aim to put meadow planting in to replace these hedges and encourage bees and insects to the area.
We have already installed two beautiful wood carvings, one depicting the life cycle of a butterfly,( starting with an egg and leading through all of the stages until the birth of a beautiful butterfly). The other is a magnificent carving of a sun flower showing how it grows from seed to a beautiful flower.
Members of the public have now started using this area and are photographing themselves with the carvings and touching them. We intend to commission further carvings depicting human family life. We will also put in a thought circle with a specially made seating area surrounded by large quarry stones engraved with inspirational word such as WISDOM MERCY LOVE etc.
Local schools will have a special bench which they will decorate with drawings and die cast metal bees and butterfly's etc.
We have so far paid £3000.00. for our carvings but we need to raise a lot more to complete our project.
We are raising funds by doing things like cake sales, car boots and personal donations.
