Story
We Shall Overcome is a national pro community and anti austerity movement across Britain. Each We Shall Overcome raised money and donations to help it's own local community - from food banks to hostels, homelessness and families living in poverty - basically anyone who needs a helping hand. Every penny raised goes staight to where it helps the most - no money is taken out in admin or expenses.....
Christmas is a particularly hard time of the year for people who are isolated and vulnerable. This year for the third winter running, a group of volunteers are rough sleeping to raise funds for twelve specific goals - one for each of the twelve days of Christmas.
We aim to provide a full Christmas Dinner for sixty homeless men at our local hostel, Greystones; to provide care packs for over seventy homeless children currently living in temporary accommodtion across Tameside; to provide Christmas Hampers for the elderly and for families in crisis via Infinity Initiatives and those suffering under benefit sanctions via Tameside Against The Cuts; to provide Christmas dinner and toys for every animal in two local animal shelters; to support women and children in refuges in Manchester via Emmeline's Pantry at The Pankhurst Centre; to provide an aid drop to twenty young people surviving in a squat in Manchester; to provide care packages to every patient in Tameside General Hospital's long stay mental health wards via Anthony Seddon Trust: to provide support for Street Treats street kitchen's Christmas appeal; to provide special care packages for the homeless men we feed every day here in Ashton.......
We are also hoping to provide a permanent home each for two men who are currently homeless - with matched funding being available from The Vicars' Relief Fund, we need to raise deposits to make this possible.
EVERY penny we raise will go to help someone who is in desperate need this Christmas. Thank you so much for your support.
We SHALL Overcome!
