Story
Thanks to the generous support of everyone who attended our recent Fundraising Concert in which we raised £1240 as well as further donations, we have been able to reduce our original crowdfunding target from £5000 to £3310. Thank you to everyone who's donated so far and please continue to support us to help get My Land's Shore to Wales in February 2018.
Following a successful professional workshop at RADA studios in London in January 2013 the show had its World Premiere in London at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre in February 2017. The production was nominated for three Off West End Awards, including "Best New Musical".
With Music & Lyrics by Christopher J Orton and Book & Lyrics by Robert Gould. The musical is based on the life of Dic Penderyn (1808 –1831), also known as Richard Lewis, a Welsh labourer and coal miner who lived in Merthyr Tydfil who was involved with the Merthyr Rising of 3 June 1831. In the course of the riot he was arrested alongside Lewis Lewis, one of the primary figures in the uprising, and charged with stabbing a soldier with a bayonet. The people of Merthyr Tydfil doubted his guilt, and signed a petition for his release; however, he was found guilty and hanged on 13 August. After his death he was treated as a martyr in Merthyr and across Britain.
All donations big or small are greatly appreciated and will enable us to give the show a well deserved and long awaited Welsh Premiere in Merthyr Tydfil in February 2018.
