Hello my name is Angela and with a team from our gym lifestyle fitness based in canvey we will be walking from London to Brighton 100 km 64 miles the end of may. We are all doing it for our own personal charity's and reasons. Myself, my husband and friend Jacque have decided to raise funds for our local heart hospital Basildon Essex Cardiothoracic which we believe is one of the best in the country and are so lucky to have with great dedicated staff. My husband who will also be walking had his life saved in 2008 by having open heart surgery at this local hospital for a genetic problem he was born with. My sons life was saved again at the same hospital in 2015 for the same genetic problem. NOT only once but twice in the same year where the surgeon had if lucky 3 hours sleep before performing the second 23 hr op to save his life. Last year 2016 my husband had to have a pacemaker fitted to save his life again but true to form back on his spinning bike and helping others in fitness in weeks. Sadly my son has to have another heart operation which he is waiting for a date under the care of the same hospital due to his heart rate being to high and not being able to do anything active or being able to work which for a 25 year old is very hard. My friend Jacque who wants to walk to raise money for the hospital with us also had her life saved due to a heart problem in the past and again very lucky to be with us. I think we are a little crazy doing this but We all are doing it for the same reason to give back a little. No matter how small every bit counts thank you x
