A year ago today (6th May) a close friend of mine and ex-colleague, Norma Duncan-Grant suffered a terrible accident which resulted in life changing injuries to her spine and mobility. As a result of this accident, life as she knew it changed immediately. Having spent 3 months in the John Radcliffe Intensive Care Unit, she finally got a bed in Stoke Mandeville Spinal Unit on 12th August 2016.

Norma is due to be discharged in the next few months and there is still a long rehab road to travel. So I have decided to challenge myself to an “Ultra Marathon” … 100 km in 2 days … and no I will not be running it !! The challenge is called ‘Race to The Stones’, from Lewknor to Avebury on 15th and 16th July 2017. I am doing this to raise money for rehab equipment and physiotherapy for Norma to ensure that her discharge back home is to its full potential, as once leaving the hospital she will not have the constant support and physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy regime that is provided at Stoke Mandeville.
